If unique interests brought you two together as a couple, your wedding is a great time to celebrate that. For a little inspiration, here are some creative wedding theme ideas you need to check out!

1. Great Gatsby
We are kicking off our list of creative wedding theme ideas with a bang! If you enjoy the 1920’s, Art Deco, and having a rompin’ good time, a Great Gatsby wedding theme will be gangbusters! Channel the roaring twenties and all the glitz and glam of this timeless classic into all the aspects of your planning.
Opulence and lavishness are key for this theme. Include ornate golds and blues, robust fonts, plenty of sparkle, feathery accents, geometric shapes, and sharp lines into the decor. Choose flapper attire for your bridesmaids. And for your guests, keep the jazz playing and the champagne and gin fizzes flowing.
Basically, THIS:
2. Rock ‘n’ roll biker
Are you a couple with a bit of an edge and tired of all the creative wedding theme ideas out there that are a little too…basic? Kick it up a notch with a rock ‘n’ roll biker-themed wedding. Spice things up at your wedding and hire a rock cover band to play your wedding music with plenty of electric guitar. Tuxedos and ballgowns not really your thing? Exchange them for a leather jacket and jeans, and a street-style dress with your coolest kicks. And be sure to ride off on a motorcycle into the sunset.
3. Historical/vintage
Are you a couple of old souls, history buffs, or enjoy the occasional dip into another era and looking for creative wedding theme ideas to reflect that? Instead of keeping up with the times, go back in time at your wedding with a vintage or historical wedding theme!
Vintage usually refers to anything from about 50 to 100 years ago. So if you have a favorite decade you’d like to emulate at your wedding, choose it as your theme and incorporate it into all your planning. For example, if you love the 1940s choose a wedding dress and wedding party attire that is inspired from that era, and encourage your guests to also arrive in outfits inspired by the decade if they choose to. Have a playlist full of big band music for the reception, use antique-looking decor, and drive away in a classic roadster after for a memorable send-off.
If your favorite era goes back even further, you can have a lot of fun with a Colonial, Regency, or Renaissance wedding theme. Be sure to feature costumes/attire, traditions, music, and catering that all reflect that time period (with a modern twist if you choose).
4. Travel
Are you a backpacking or jet-setting couple looking for some creative wedding theme ideas? Why not plan a travel-themed wedding! To start, use vintage postcards as your invitations. Create a wanderlust-worthy motif of popular destinations, or focus on one such as Paris, London, Rome, Morocco, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Sydney, etc. Incorporate general travel elements such as airplanes, globes, maps, postage stamps, and vintage luggage.
Print your programs to look like passports, and have an official wedding day stamp made for guests to “stamp their passport.” Have fun with the catering and bring in dishes, appetizers, and cocktails/wines/beers from around the world. This can be a great way to gear up for the honeymoon and be adventurous!
5. Movie/TV show
Do you and your significant other have a movie or tv show that really unites the two of you together? If this movie or tv show plays a significant role in your relationship, then look no further for creative wedding theme ideas. Use your favorite movie/tv show (or several of them if you’re avid movie/TV buffs) as your wedding theme.
Incorporate elements of your favorite characters, quotes, scenes, costumes, etc. into every aspect of the decor and planning. Have a character-themed wedding party, a cake decorated with elements of the theme, walk down the aisle to the theme song and use the movie soundtrack as your playlist, make the catering significant to specifics from the movie/tv show, and include lots of prop replicas in centerpieces and the general decor. You know your favorite movie/show best, so be creative and have fun! There are ton of ways to incorporate movies and tv show into your wedding, like this couple who took inspiration from the office:
Whether you decide on a wedding theme idea that’s classic, trendy, or creative, your guests will have a great time and you’re sure to have a wedding day that reflects your personality and creates lasting memories.
